When the owners purchased this narrow brick townhouse—originally divided into two apartments—it was in need of complete transformation. Our firm reimagined the three-story home with a contemporary rear extension, creating a fluid, modern residence for a family of four, all while respecting a tight budget and timeline.
The addition is deliberately understated, clad in fiber-cement panels with expansive black-framed windows that contrast elegantly with the Italianate front façade, preserving the historic streetscape.
The home is designed around light, openness, and connection. Each floor opens to private outdoor terraces, while a skylight and thoughtfully positioned windows flood interiors with natural daylight. A relocated staircase improves circulation and enhances the sense of spatial flow. At the heart of the home, the kitchen anchors the open-plan living and dining areas, blending sleek, contemporary finishes with warm oak tones and a soft gray-and-white palette.
Throughout, minimalist detailing, clean lines, and carefully curated materials define the interiors, resulting in a serene, modern urban sanctuary that balances intimate family life with spaces designed for entertaining.
